Professor Fary Khan AM is an internationally renowned specialist in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director of the Qatar Rehabilitation Institute, Doha, Qatar. She is a highly respected clinician, academic, researcher, and healthcare leader whose work has significantly influenced rehabilitation medicine, health policy, workforce development, and capacity building both regionally and globally.

Professor Khan is President of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) and President-Elect of the Asia Oceanian Society of Neurorehabilitation (AOSNR), reflecting her pivotal role in shaping global rehabilitation strategy and advancing rehabilitation as an essential component of health systems worldwide. She has served as the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) representative to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Perioperative Medicine Committee, was an elected Board Member of the Rehabilitation Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand (RMSANZ), and member of the Executive Committee for the Australia and New Zealand Bi-National Rehabilitation Strategy, and Immediate Past Academic Fellow of the AFRM Board.

Professor Khan served for more than two decades as Director of Rehabilitation Services at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Australia, where she led major clinical, academic, and service innovations. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to medicine and rehabilitation, she was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2022. Her international standing has been further acknowledged through her election as an International Member of the U.S. National Academy of Medicine. Among numerous prestigious honors, she has received the George Burniston Oration and Medal (2024), the Ollie Hook Oration Award (2024), and the Sidney Licht Award (2018) for excellence and leadership in rehabilitation medicine.

A distinguished scholar and research leader, Professor Khan has authored more than 500 peer-reviewed publications, including systematic reviews, clinical guidelines, book chapters, and educational resources. She is a keynote speaker at major international conferences and has successfully supervised numerous doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. Through her leadership in research, education, and mentorship, she continues to shape the next generation of rehabilitation clinicians, academics, and health leaders worldwide. She serves on the editorial boards of several leading rehabilitation journals and is a Section Editor for the forthcoming edition of DeLisa’s Principles and Practice of Rehabilitation Medicine.
